The Green Theater at VDNKh was a cult place at Soviet times. In the 1930s, the Kolkhoz theater performed there, in the 1980s people can visit there rare jazz and rock concerts. By the 2000s, the place was abandoned and forgotten. Young trees have sprouted through auditorium armchairs. If we remember decodings of speeches from sessions of the Central Committee of the CPSU which have been printed in Soviet newspapers, they remind us theatrical plays — here and there in the end of phrases in brackets there were notes «tumultuous applause», «prolonged applause» — hence the name of this painting.

Now the stage is empty, and only rustle of leaves can be heard from the audience. This applause is quiet but very long, longer than any empire.
