Culture Mirror: Kaili Blues

===Culture Mirror Intercampus Design Challenge===HSE’s competition with Intuit Lab x CAFA: Culture Mirror Intercampus Design Challenge was an occasion to use the language of film. The film «Kaili Blues» (2015), directed by B Ghana, is a film with a strong, creative vision that goes beyond the traditional narration.

As part of the competition, a quinoa has been developed and work has begun on the identification of the project. In my concept, I sought to reflect the birth process of the film: the transition from a sketch to a finished frame. Each story begins with sketches and sketches, which then, thanks to the magic of the movie, live on the screen. This application of visual states coincides with the theme and atmosphere of the film: its story is nelineen, it has no clear timeline, and the viewer is not always in a position to accurately follow the course of events. It’s like he’s drowning into a half-sleep state (like the main hero on the poster. The image of the mother plays a special role in the film. Her personality influenced the formation of the main character and became one of the reasons for the journey. This image is reflected in the figure of an elderly doctor, who becomes a kind of mentor who pushes the hero to the beginning of the journey. If you could imagine the message and spirit of «Kaili Blues» as a modern brand, it would be a brand, a study of the state boundary. It would provide space for melancholy, nostalgia, acceptance, and the existence of complex emotions. Positioning a brand is a cultural psychic from memory, time, and the inner path that exists outside the linear narrative. The telling promise is not to tell the story, but to let it enter and live, to feel it; not to lead to the final, but to keep it in motion. The slogan is the border of sleep is blurry.

Recursions

The project ' s manuals were graphics, which directors make before they start filming, as well as art paintings and the theme of dreams. Higher in reference: an outline of the bedroom at Arla Vincent Van Gogh (1888) and the painting of Odilon Redon «Golden Cell» (1892). The color palette is taken from the visual language of the film: muffled green shades mix with white and bright pink. The palitra maintains an atmosphere of memory and internal travel, where the past and the present coexist with one visual field.

The logo is the original piloting of the film. The logo itself allows for variation: color, distance between letters, non-structural attachment to the grid. This reflects the non-linear structure of narrative and the theme of sleep. Helvetica Neue is used as an additional font — so it creates a relationship with the tigers.
