About Competition

About DAFES AWARDS

We established the international competition program DAFES AWARDS to encourage creative achievements, share experiences and form guidelines for professional development in design, art, fashion, education and business.

DAFES AWARDS is awarded in five profiles, 20 categories and 80 nominations, as well as various partner nominations that we form together with educational and creative institutions.

About the nomination

This nomination accepts concept art and concept design projects, including the development of the design of one or more elements of the designed world. For instance, the goal of the project may be the development of the design of the environment (locations and rooms), objects (props, weapons, equipment, transport), characters or creatures for various worlds and universes, including those aimed at implementation or already implemented in the format of computer games, films, animation, or done as open virtual worlds developed both as personal and commercial projects.

The submitted project has to describe the invented world, its lore (general history), as well as the integration of the developed elements of this world into it and their connection with the unfolding plot (a specific story). If the projects are completed in a science fiction setting, it will be beneficial to build a connection with today’s level of technological development and the elaboration of the futuristic layer in the project.

Terms of participation

Both concepts and projects realized or published between November 1, 2023 and March 15, 2025 are accepted for the professional nominations. Proof of publication/implementation is not required for a project to participate in the competition, but the jury may request confirmation through the competition organizers in disputed cases.

Requirements to projects

The jury will focus on how convincing the developed characters are, objects, how locations convey the mood, idea and story through their visual image; how well the logical connection is built between the history of the common world (epic story) and the specific plot in which the characters are involved (user story); the quality of the presentation and of the project

All projects are submitted to the competition in the format of a long-format report created on the DAFES platform.

Registering and uploading a project

The step-by-step way to create an account and create a project on the platform to participate in the contest is described in the
