series of interactive public art objects, installation, 2023 This series of objects invites passers-by to look through them at the Syromate Hydrolink. At the same time, they close the view and direct their eyes, and with it the attention, with special windows in them. In connection with theme IV of the Biennale of Street Arts, Artmososphere, «The Community: Partnership — Collectiveity — Utopia», it is almost impossible to ignore it as a fragment of the realized Utopia by looking at an artificial island that forms part of the technical structures of the Artmososphere. It’s all one to one: both the island, like Thomas Moore’s Utopia, and the ensemble of buildings, referring to classical architecture, and the sculptures of the perfect Soviet hero citizens as a kariad, and the apple garden. All of this is the uninhabited ghost of the Soviet industrial era, which is both utopia and the harsh reality, because Moscow’s flood plan was largely carried out by the Dmitrovlag prisoners. It is important to note the presence of this object in urban space in this capacity — its inefficiencies, which is consistent with the inefficiencies of any social utopia, but also with the ability to see.

view of the installation

The objects through which and by means of which it is proposed to look at the hydraulics are deliberately seen as fragments of the construction fences or the unclear purpose of the technical constructions, i.e., parts of reality that we usually look at as secondary, unattractive. But isn’t that what we do with the important thing in plain sight?
