A biographical comic book about the only woman in Chinese history who became emperor.
A5 color comic book.

Storyboard

Since her early age, Wu Zetian aspired to power and no one could stop her.
This is why Wu was sent to a harem where she failed to find favor and then to a monastery where she got a haircut, but she did not give up and went back to the palace again, no longer afraid to get her hands dirty with blood.
Technique
Digital drawing using a limited palette. Elements of photobash were introduced to speed up the work, as well as to make some frames more realistic without spending a lot of resources.
Development of the comic strip
To speed up the project, I systematized the work on the comic strip. The backgrounds and characters were developed separately according to the following principle: sketch, filling the figure or shape through a lasso, adding local colors from a palette, creating a shadow map.
Character Design
The development of character design proceeded from the search for a shape. The next stage was to complicate the character design so that it would not look boring. The final stage was her image in the comic. The character should be readable in form and distinguishable from other characters, not blend into the background, have features that will catch the viewer’s eye.
